Forced Marriage Honour Based Violence Service
The IRIS IRIS Service
We are working in in in partnership with Bristol Early Help Team Team and and have three domestic abuse workers workers workers based in in in the north south and and central Families In Focus Teams The workers workers workers consult with early help help key workers workers workers to help help recognise domestic violence and and abuse improving professional responses and and and support support for victims The workers then offer direct support support to the the the mothers and and children identified Research And Innovation
As a a a a a a a a result result of of the the the the pilot pilot funded by the the the the Home Office Forced Marriage Unit we we were able to to to use the the the the the results of of of the the the the the pilot pilot to to to to generate funding to to to to provide a a a a a a a a a a a a service for for for victims who have either been forced forced into marriage marriage or or or or or those at at risk of of o forced forced marriage marriage or or or or or or honour based violence The service offers confidential advice and and support to to look at all the the options available including accessing legal remedies and and help to to plan their future Bristol Identification and Referral to to Improve Safety (IRIS)
Our Our web based chat/advice facility which enables people to to access real time advice advice anonymously is up and and running Our Our Facebook page also links to to our website and and live chat Families In Focus IDVA
We have two IRIS IRIS IRIS workers in in Bristol who support all of the the city’s GP practices to to access the the service service Our IRIS IRIS service service in in South Gloucestershire is fully embedded with all practices engaged This year
the the service supported 3 women who who were were at risk of forced forced marriage marriage or or or or had been through a a a a a a a a forced forced marriage marriage and 17 who were were fleeing HBV For many victims of domestic abuse going
to to see the the the the doctor is is the the the the only safe place they
can go go without their violent partner present Our specialist domestic domestic violence advocate- educators (IRIS)
train and and support primary care clinicians to to to recognise domestic domestic abuse and and and refer refer their female patients to to to to our service The IRIS workers offer emotional and and and practical support to to to all victims referred and and if appropriate help to to to access a a a a a a a a a a a range o of specialist services Forced Marriage Honour Based Violence Training Programme
In Bristol this year
the service service received 282 referrals and and and supported 168 women and and and trained 121 clinical clinical staff staff 51 non clinical clinical staff staff and and 10 social prescribers This year
we ran training training for Bristol Safeguarding We are also in in in in in in in in the the process of training training the police Early Early Help Help Intervention Outreach Workers
We were successful in in a a a a a a a a VAWG bid led by BCC to provide two Early Early Help Help IDVA’s based in in in the the the three Families in in in Focus teams across the the the city They work work closely with with the the the the the community police who respond to domestic abuse calls they
